The mission of CAST is to reinvent schooling by maximizing relationships in order prepare every student for college, career and life. Learning at CAST has always extended beyond the four walls of the classroom. By leveraging the CAST pillars of youth voice, relationships, authentic learning and equity, educators and students were better prepared to effectively pivot to distance learning, and have adapted their cross-curricular projects to meet the virtual, and hybrid setting. Jeanne Russell, Executive Director for the CAST Schools Network, and Mr. Giovanni Neri, Biology Teacher at CAST Med High School, highlight the effectiveness of authentic learning experiences, and a project, "Contagion" that is responsive to the pandemic conditions.
