Natasha founded the CIS-SA STEM Department to fill a need for quality STEM programming for at-risk youth in San Antonio. She developed and manages Space Club, a year-long STEM program led by a team of engineers that culminates in a rigorous space colony design challenge. Since 2014, Space Club has reached over 1,050 middle school students in Harlandale ISD. Natasha also collaborates with school districts to expand STEM programming including designing curriculum and leading training for CIS Site Coordinators to implement school-wide STEM Family Nights and Launchpad STEM enrichment groups. CIS-SA Site Coordinators have reached 1,178 students and 10,599 family members through STEM programming across 45 schools and 9 districts in San Antonio. Natasha also supports city-wide STEM initiatives including organizing the San Antonio Mayor’s K-12 Smart City Challenge that brings together students across the city in sharing solutions to improve local challenges in transportation and sustainability.
Prior to CIS-SA, Natasha worked as an engineer for the Department of Defense including nanomaterials research, Navy radar electromagnetic interference testing, and satellite spectrum management. Natasha holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and is the co-founder of Vivify, a STEM K-12 curriculum company that provides resources to STEM educators.
